Tasting Notes: Dark chocolate/cocoa, sweet, refreshing, and warming

Japanese green tea is usually steamed, which creates some of its most famous grassy/stewed veggie notes, but alas, some days that just isn't what I'm looking for. However, when I still want a green tea, I turn to this tea. Hoji Cha isn't steamed, its roasted in a porcelain pot over a charcoal fire, which give the tea a wonderful baked note. This roasting "kills off" the more "green notes" leaving you with a deliciously light bodied tea that is energetic and warming, yet comforting. Hoji Cha is also an amazing after dinner tea........maybe with dessert?
