Tasting Notes: longan fruit, cocoa, earthy richness with a nice roasty/toasty sweetness.
Farm Location: Lugu village, Nantou county, Taiwan
Elevation: 1200 meters
Picking: summer 2023
Cultivar: Qing xin
Production notes: 50% oxidation and medium roast
Gui fei cha is a more oxidized than most other oolongs and I find it unique because you get all those deep rich roasty notes but no charcoal flavor. We are able to enjoy this rich, honey aromatic tea because of bugs. Not a fairy tale, an actual step in this teas production is allowing it to be bitten by leaf hopper bugs which naturally flavors the leaf resulting in a honey sweetness.
